"...We saw lots of deer but nothing big. We made it back to the camp house. Old “Slick gun-handler me” was unloading my gun with one hand and I let it shoot right through the floor board. Smoke and dust and noise everywhere!..."
I received the latest TRACKS magazine today. I've posted the illustration on the blog already, but I thought Id show it again in print, and you're also sort of able to read Mr. Bode's diary entry that goes along with the image.
I just submitted another illustration to Clay Times Magazine for the Nov/Dec issue. Christmas time for many ceramicists means Holiday Sales and "Mugs! Mugs! Mugs!"
I was inspired by my assignment in experimental drawing class (creating an image with only paper) to experiment more with layering and texture, however through digital painting. I approached this piece as if I were only allowed to use paper and paint, except I had to create it all digitally in Photoshop. By using textured paint brushes and blocking in colored forms, I mimicked actual paint strokes and collage. This was a test piece for this particular style. I find it quite appealing and plan on experimenting more with it.
The 2009 Sept/Oct Issue of Clay Times is now out, featuring my illustration. Clay Times is a National bimonthly periodical. It's such a gratifying feeling to have my work a part of another's "canvas." It reaffirms my hard work and effort has purpose and is marketable. An illustration is already in the works for the November/December Issue!
