Silhouettes

I tend to focus on too much on detail rather than the form of my characters. Working with silhouettes forces you to address the detail in the negative space which truly defines a character. Here is an attempt to silhouette the characters from Dancing with the Stars.

Did you have the chance to check out Kara Walker yet?

Its nice. The front part of her dress that reaches to the floor was confusing to the eye for me, first glance took it as her front leg possibly and that didn't make sense. Not sure of the solution though.

Good point Logan. Could have easily shortened it or adjusted the form. And I have checked out Kara Walker. Her work has so much life and theyre just silhouettes! It really emphasizes the importance of that negative space.
